The Club needs more people to come forward as potential umpires. If you get qualified,  you can greatly help out at the club by umpiring a few games, especially on the women's side where qualified umpires are a must. The other advantage is that you now get paid for your time !

Email the WHHC Umpires Co-ordinator to register your interest. WHHC will pay registration fees, help to co-ordinate the practice games and orgainse coaching.

Full details of what's involved in getting qualified (and lots else) can be found on the Middlesex Hockey Umpires Association or Southern Counties Hockey Umpires Association website.

Basically, you need to:

1) Pass a multiple choice theory exam
2) Umpire 3 matches of a "Level 1" standard
3) Be "watched" by an umpiring official during a 4th match

Unfortunately this is liable to change as the league are currently introducing a new grading system and with it potentially a different assessment procedure. Please check regularly for updates here !
