Ladies 3s
The West Hampstead L3s (ably and patiently coached by Alky and Max) had a somewhat variable 2008/09 season playing in the dizzying heights of the Middlesex Ladies’ League Division 1. We were strong in the fields of fancy dress (excellent pink panther outfits for the cartoon social – I can’t believe we didn’t win), squad personnel changes (a truly unbelievable number of players graced the L3s during the season and we thank them all) and Christmas decorations but slightly weaker in the rather more relevant field of playing hockey. Not altogether surprisingly our most improved player was our goalkeeper, Ona MacConnell. We did pull off something of a Houdini trick to escape relegation in the last game of season by beating the team that ultimately finished 3 places above us and, yes, I am going to gloss over the results from the rest of season. Suffice to say we lost more games than we won but we had fun and hope for an improved 2009/10 season.
Quote of the season goes to Jane for the truly odd query of “Don’t you find tall people scary?” and “performance” of the season to Vi for that unforgettable trip to Southgate…
