1. The Club shall be called "West Hampstead
Hockey Club", situated at 25 Alvanley Gardens,
Finchely Road, Hampstead, London NW6 1JD.
2. The object of the Club is to provide its Members
with such facilities as are incidental to the playing
of hockey.
3. The Club shall be affiliated to such associations
that may be considered necessary by the Committee.
4. Application for Membership shall be made to a
member of the Committee. Such applications shall be
considered by the Committee who reserve the right
to refuse Membership to any person without giving
reason. Membership shall also require membership of
the joint Hampstead Cricket Club and Cumberland Lawn
Tennis Club.
5. The Club shall be managed by a Chairman, Women's
Secretary, Men's Secretary, Treasurer, Women's Fixture
Secretary, Men's Fixture Secretary, Social Secretary,
and the captains of each the full-time teams, who
shall be elected at the AGM each year. Vacancies in
the Committee occurring during the year may be filled
by decision of the Committee.
6. The names of the members of the Committee shall
be posted on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
7. Committee meetings shall be held once a month
or otherwise at the discretion of the Committee.
8. At least half of the Committee or their alternates,
present in person, of which at least two shall be
female and two shall be male, shall constitute a quorum
at all meetings of the Committee.
9. At all General Meetings the Chair shall be taken
by the Chairman of the Committee or, failing that,
by any member of the Committee.
10. The Committee shall give Members fourteen days
prior notice of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which
shall be held before the end of the playing season.
Other General Meetings may be convened by the Committee
provided fourteen days notice is given to all Members
duly setting out the purpose for which the Meeting
is being called.
11. Upon the requisition in writing duly setting
out the purpose, signed by eighteen Members and delivered
to both the Women's and Men's Secretaries, the Committee
shall within fourteen days cause an Extraordinary
General Meeting (EGM) to be convened.
12. Should such requisition being served and not
complied with within fourteen days or the Meeting
not be held in thirty days, the Members making the
requisition may themselves convene an EGM of the Club
by giving fourteen days notice in writing to all Members
13. Any Member of the Committee may be removed by
a majority of two-thirds of the Members present at
any EGM, if that is the purpose for which the EGM
is convened.
14. The Chairman of the Club shall have the casting
vote in the case of a tie in voting at any meeting.
15. Any alterations to the constitution may only
be agreed at the AGM or an EGM if that is the purpose
for which the EGM is convened
16. The Committee shall have the power to legislate
upon any point not provided for in these rules.
